Jim believes that the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office has created meaningful reform with new ideas, innovative programs, and proven leadership. Along with years of experience that will help maintain and further evolve a safe and constructive work environment, Jim is continuing to bring fresh perspectives and innovations to the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office to provide a safer and stronger DuPage County for our residents.
I bring experience, knowledge and expertise to the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office from my 25 years of serving the citizens of DuPage County. I have risen through the ranks to lead the Sheriff’s Office in the second largest county in Illinois, which has 400 sworn and 100 civilian employees.
During my time at the Sheriff’s Office, I’ve been instrumental in many facets of the agency, but as Sheriff I have been able to foster a new culture of hope and purpose and have shifted the focus to the improvement and well-being of the citizenry.
James Mendrick, a DuPage County resident over 30 years and active community member of the county, attended Downers Grove South High School, married his high school sweet heart Cyndi and they have two amazing young boys Colin and Connor. James Mendrick has had over 50 endorsements as a DuPage County Sheriff.
Since taking office in December 2018, Sheriff Mendrick has partnered with the DuPage County Health Department to institute Medicated Assisted Treatment (MAT) for inmates fighting Opioid addiction and promoted the use of Deterra drug deactivation pouch system to keep dangerous medication out of our medicine cabinets and waterways.
